Sustainable Movement for Equity has worked in several communities in Nigeria, educating communities on human rights issues and forestry laws to effectively manage the forest and the resources they have.The organization has engaged in budget monitoring and education to better position organisations and citizens to ask pertinent questions about governance and engage in the matters of governance. The organization also work with mining communities to educate them on their rights and how resources can be better managed for immediate use and for future generations. Sustainable Movement for Equity also educated communities on environmental issues, through tree planting and mangrove regeneration to avert the deleterious effects of disasters and climate change.The organization has facilitated several livelihood options to take the interest of community members away from forest exploitation. The organization educated communities on peace and conflict resolution and to avoid the use of small arms and light weapons which may escalate conflict.
