The Prantoz Foundation, based in Bangladesh, is a grassroots organization dedicated to empowering marginalized communities, particularly LGBTQIA+ individuals. Its mission is to promote social justice, inclusion, and equity by addressing challenges such as discrimination, lack of education, and limited livelihood opportunities. The foundation also integrates climate change advocacy and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) into its programs to drive sustainable and inclusive development.

Programs and Activities

  1. Education and Career Development:
    Prantoz supports LGBTQIA+ individuals excluded from formal education due to stigma. It offers counseling, workshops, and guidance to help them return to education and build career pathways through life skills and vocational training.
  2. Livelihood and Capacity-Building:
    In partnership with organizations like The Owl of Minerva, Inclusive Bangladesh, USAID, COC-Netherlands, etc., Prantoz implements various projects to train and empower Hijra, transgender, intersex, and queer individuals. Programs include entrepreneurship development and livelihood support, directly impacting over 500 beneficiaries.
  3. Climate Change Advocacy:
    Recognizing the link between climate change and social vulnerabilities, Prantoz works in affected areas like Khulna to raise awareness and promote resilience among vulnerable groups.
  4. SRHR Awareness:
    The foundation organizes campaigns to educate communities on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, focusing on combating stigma and ensuring access to essential healthcare, including HIV/STD prevention.

By fostering grassroots empowerment and partnerships, the Prantoz Foundation strives to create an equitable world where marginalized voices are heard, valued, and supported to thrive.
