Integrated Community Action Network (ICAN) is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable and marginalized populations in Somalia through integrated and sustainable development initiatives. Established to address pressing community needs, ICAN works to promote resilience, self-reliance, and social inclusion by implementing programs that respond to both emergency and long-term development priorities.

ICAN operates in several thematic areas including education, protection, health, food security and livelihoods (FSL), water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), governance, and youth empowerment. Through these programs, the organization supports communities affected by conflict, displacement, poverty, and climate change, helping them rebuild their lives and access essential services.

Our approach is participatory and community-driven. ICAN engages local leaders, women’s groups, youth, and government institutions to ensure that interventions are inclusive, culturally appropriate, and sustainable. The organization also focuses on building local capacity by training community volunteers, teachers, health workers, and project staff to strengthen service delivery and promote accountability.

In addition to direct implementation, ICAN plays a coordinating role in advocacy and partnership building, working with national and international NGOs, UN agencies, and government authorities to align efforts with national development goals and humanitarian response frameworks.

Our mission is to empower communities through integrated action that improves access to education, healthcare, and livelihoods opportunities while fostering peace, protection, and development. Our vision is a resilient and inclusive society where all individuals, especially women, children, and minority groups, can live with dignity and equal opportunity.
