Gurapau was founded by the el-molo people and registered as a community based organization in the year 2000. During it’s 20 years of existence, the organization has implemented a number of projects on language revival, promotion of fishing livelihood, education and health projects. Although the organization has implemented a number of programs, it lacks financial partners to implement long term programs towards realization of its vision and mission. It draws its membership from community members who support its action activities on volunteer basis. The organization has a board comprised of 7 members and it is managed by an executive director, programs manager, community liaison officer and an accountant.
