Badabon Sangho is a women's rights and women-led organisation in southwest region

Presence in: Bangladesh
Focus: Environmental Justice, Gender-based violence, Women's Rights

The organisation was formed with the passion and experiences we had during our journey to do something for them. Badabon Sangho is a women’s rights and local woman-led organisation, has started its journey in 2016 in the southern region of Bangladesh called Rampal and Mongla which is also next to the Bay of Bengal. We work with issues of girls and women specially land rights and land induced gender based violence against women, climate change and disaster and its impact on girls and women, fisherfolks women and migrant workers’ rights and others.

We keep focus on feminist approach and movement building engaging women are facing the worst forms of violence regarding disaster, land disputes and become displaced which keeps them silent to ask for their rights. We also work with lower caste, dalit, women with disability, trans women, fisher folk, crab farmers and indigenous minorities in these areas. Recently Badabon Sangho is working with the returnee migrant workers who actually lost their job overseas after covid-19 and are coming back to Bangladesh.
