Ensuring Access to Justice Through Community Courts in Eritrea

This paper reviews the contribution and impact of community courts in Eritrea in creating access to justice, empowering the poor to participate in the judicial process, and in efficiently integrating customary dispute settlement in the national legal system. The paper illustrates how the two objectives of the establishment of community courts are being progressively achieved.
