Our determined intent is to address the following problems:

  • Severe lack of adequate advocacy for renters and manufactured homeowners.
  • Non-existent tenant representation in housing policy discussions and negotiations.
  • Imbalance of power in contractual rights and responsibilities that move renters into a vicious cycle of poverty and crushing debt.
  • Unequal access to justice and legal representation for renters and manufactured homeowners.
  • Restrictive and predatory practices designed to keep renters and manufactured homeowners from attaining economic stability and financial prosperity.

Goals

  • Educate and empower renters regarding rights, responsibilities, and the potential for better, more equitable, and fairer residential living conditions.
  • Guide and support the creation of tenant organizations state-wide, regionally, and locally in Utah.
  • Unite renters to self-advocate and to guide the advocacy of staff and allies.
  • Build coalitions across the state to improve renters’ and manufactured homeowners’ living conditions in order to achieve economic stability and financial prosperity.
