Fenomena Association was founded on March 8, 2006 as a non-governmental association of women citizens with the aim of fighting against gender inequality and other related problems in our society. From, initially, an organization that operates within the local community, Fenomena soon grew into an organization that implements projects at the regional, national and cross-border level. Since its foundation, the organization has been constantly working to reduce gender-based discrimination and violence. Fenomena works directly with women who have survived domestic violence by providing licensed social services and legal support. In addition, the association improved its knowledge and expertise in policy analysis and research, and developed training programs for various target groups, including non-governmental organizations and public administration. Fenomena has introduced innovative programs for building the capacity of service providers, enabled policy improvements in the field of gender equality, supports the networking of the “Women Against Violence” Network in Serbia (VAWN) as a national and regional coordinating organization for Southwestern Serbia, and represents Serbia in the European Network Against Violence (Women against violence Europe) as the contact point of Serbia in WAVE.

The vision of Fenomena is a society based on solidarity, equality and emancipation from all forms of domination, and a society that protects the environment.

Fenomena’s mission is to encourage positive social change through the promotion of the concept of sustainable development and to reach different target groups and organizations (public and private) at the local and state level, as well as at the regional level.
