DRLI is a registered non-governmental organization with the major objective of promoting digital rights in Nigeria and beyond. DRLI is a not-for-profit, Non-Governmental Organization committed to the protection and promotion of digital rights through Litigation, Advocacy, Research and Training (LART). In a little over 4 years, DRLI has earned a frontline spot as a digital rights defender through its timely and critical efforts in the protection and promotion of digital rights. Over the last four (4) years, DRLI has worked on Data Protection & Privacy, Digital Identity, Online Expressions, Right to Own Digital Assets, Access to the Internet, Right to Information among others.
We have worked in the aforementioned areas by way of litigation, Webinars, litigation surgeries, internships and trainings. In litigation, we are the leading digital rights organization in Nigeria, having litigated successfuly on data protection and privacy, digital identity and online expressions. In fact, some of our cases have set precedent on the respective subject matters. We have trained over 300 lawyers in digital rights’ litigation and some of these lawyers have gone ahead to conduct impressive digital rights litigation across Nigeria validating their expertise in the subject matter. We regularly organize internship for law school undergraduates with a view of giving them a leap into the future of digital rights and indeed to “catch them young” We work on research projects on issues involving digital rights and we indeed public the first compilation of digital rights judgments in Nigeria in 2021 titled “Digital Rights In Nigeria: Through The Courts”
Our head office is located in Lagos, with operational presence throughout Nigeria. While our team of over 10 lawyers and support staff coordinate our operations across Nigeria, we maintain a network of over 350 digital rights lawyers across Nigeria.
