Coal Kills Baltimore Mission Statement

Coal Kills Baltimore accomplishes its vision by addressing systemic issues within Baltimore city and Maryland state governments that are preventing communities from holding coal pier polluters accountable for community residents’ well-being. Our actions include a combination of advocacy, outreach, engagement, education, and mobilization to push for greater accountability and transparency that would then lead to the impacted community’s right to reject the permitting and development of polluting industries. Our moral foundation derives from the understanding that the sanctity of life stops at no borders – economic, geographic, racial, religious or orientation – and that local actions have global consequences.
