The Centre for Environmental Justice in Africa is dedicated to advancing environmental law and justice across Africa through approaches that are African-rooted, rights-based, and community-centred. Our vision is to be an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary, collaborative research space designed to seek innovative solutions to address Africa’s environmental justice challenges and to harness African-derived opportunities for global sustainability.

Our work integrates research, postgraduate education, training, strategic litigation, and advocacy, with a strong focus on recognising and applying Indigenous and local knowledge systems in environmental governance.
