Advocacy for incarcerated families (AFIFA) has a clearly defined Gorvenance and Management structure. The Head governance organ is the Board of Trustees. It is made up of five members among whom are the chair, and treasurer. They are the policy making organ of AFIFA. The link between the Board of Trustees and management is the Executive Director who doubles up as the secretary to the Board. The Executive Director is the Head of the secretariat that makes up the management wing of AFIFA. The secretariat is corporately lead by the Top level managers who include the Executive Director as Chair, the Programs Manager, the Finance Officer, the Administrator,the Human resource Manager, the Procurement and logistics officer, the communications officer and the Operations manager. This team oversees their respective line departments through middle level and lower level managers. Program Coordinators who give oversight to AFIFA’s four main programs: Wives of incarcerated men advocacy (WIMA), Support for Children of Incarcerated Parents (SCIP), Comprehensive Approach to the Reintegration of ex-convicts (CAREX-CON) and the overarching Carceral Academy for Resilience and Reintegration ( CARAR). These coordinators in turn oversee the project officers in charge of the various projects that service each of the four programs.at the base of this structure are the field workers and various service officers who come in for their contracted expertise to service the various AFIFA departments.
