🌍 Grassroots Justice Network Academy: Community Guidelines

Please treat discussion in the GJN Academy learning platform in a safe, kind, and respectful manner. This platform is a shared community resource — a space to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

Please expand each â–¸ section below to read the full community guidelines and best practices for participating in the GJN Academy.

🤝 Respect & Inclusion

Be respectful and inclusive. Help make the Academy a safe space for learners of all backgrounds.

The GJN Academy is an inclusive space for learners of all genders, races, ages, religions, cultural backgrounds from around the world. Don’t post anything that can be considered offensive, harmful, abusive, or hateful. Don’t post anything obscene or sexually explicit. Do not harass anyone, impersonate others, or expose private or sensitive information. Do not post any digital content that belongs to someone else without their permission. You may not post descriptions of, links to, or methods for stealing someone’s intellectual property (software, video, audio, images), or for breaking any other law.

đź’¬ Improve the Discussion

Keep discussions relevant, constructive, and in the right place to help everyone learn.

The GJN Academy is all about legal empowerment: combining the power of people with the power of law to help build stronger, fairer, and more just societies. Before posting, think about whether your post is related to what brings us together on this platform. As you post, try to be short and to the point. Don’t post spam or unrelated content. Don’t use the learning platform to post updates about your work that are not connected to specific conversations.

Read what other people are posting, and spread some love. Welcome fellow learners, help or encourage them, and react to their posts where relevant to you.

Make the effort to put things in the right place, so that we can spend more time discussing and less cleaning up. Use the GJN Academy group to introduce yourself as a new learner or react to posts from moderators. Use course, program, regional or thematic specific groups to post reactions to content, resources, live sessions, questions, etc. You will find those groups on the left side bar.

🗣️ Be agreeable, even when you disagree

Disagree with ideas respectfully while treating other community members with kindness.

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But please remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid: name-calling, personal attacks, responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content. Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

✨ Be Yourself

Share your own thoughts and experiences rather than AI-generated contributions.

Please avoid using artificial intelligence (AI) to post messages in the learning platform or as a substitute for engaging with the Academy’s learning content. While AI tools can be helpful for organizing or refining ideas, this is a space for reflection, dialogue, and learning from your own experience. The most valuable contributions are often the imperfect but genuine ones that come directly from participants themselves. Moderators will remove any comments or contributions that are suspected to be AI-generated or which are completely off-topic.

đźš© Help us enforce these guidelines

Help us enforce these guidelines by reporting inappropriate content and understanding how moderation works.

If you see disrespectful, harmful, hateful or any other type of inappropriate behavior, please report it immediately by clicking on the three dots (…) next to the post and then clicking on “Report”. Do not reply to the post, report it instead. Our team will review it and take appropriate action.

In order to maintain our community, GJN Academy staff reserve the right to remove any content and any user account for any reason at any time. Moderators do not preview new posts in any way; the moderators and site operators take no responsibility for any content posted by GJN Academy learners.
