Ius Stella operates in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where access to justice remains out of reach for the majority, particularly for low-income and marginalized communities.
Our work is structured around three core pillars:
First, legal empowerment.
We provide direct legal assistance to individuals facing injustice, particularly those arbitrarily detained, while equipping communities with the knowledge and tools to understand and claim their rights.
Second, social justice.
We go beyond legal support to address the human realities behind each case. This includes providing essential support during detention and accompanying individuals after their release through rehabilitation and reintegration efforts, recognizing that justice must restore dignity, not just resolve cases.
Third, innovation and systemic change.
We leverage data, technology, and research to transform how justice is understood and delivered. Through our digital legal aid platform, we document cases in real time, turning lived experiences of injustice into structured data that can expose systemic failures, inform advocacy, and drive long-term reform.
Through this integrated approach, Ius Stella aims not only to resolve individual cases, but to contribute to building a more accountable, inclusive, and people-centered justice system in the DRC.
