The Human Rights and Youth Justice Initiative (HRYJI) is a Nigerian-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting human rights, youth empowerment, and access to justice for vulnerable and marginalized communities. Founded by Emeka Onah, HRYJI works to address systemic challenges that young people face, including lack of legal awareness, exposure to gender-based violence, and limited opportunities for leadership and personal development.
Our mission is to protect and promote the rights and dignity of individuals, particularly youth, by providing education, advocacy, and direct support programs. HRYJI implements a range of programs and activities, including:
Youth Justice Programs: Educating young people about their rights, supporting youth in conflict with the law, and promoting rehabilitation and positive life choices.
Human Rights Advocacy: Raising awareness on human rights issues, monitoring violations, and promoting policies that protect vulnerable populations.
Community Empowerment: Conducting workshops, mentoring programs, and outreach activities to strengthen leadership skills, social responsibility, and community engagement among young people.
Gender-Based Violence Support: Providing education, advocacy, and referral services to survivors of gender-based violence, while promoting equality and social inclusion.
HRYJI also partners with local and international organizations to strengthen its programs and create sustainable impact. Through these initiatives, the organization seeks to empower youth, reduce social inequalities, and build safer, more just communities.
