Carbon projects don’t just include a lot of complicated language, they introduce a completely different way of interacting with land from how many communities consider the land. This difference in understanding of the purpose of land can make it very difficult to help a community. Carbon markets can also be controversial, especially when the community members are not involved in these conversations from the beginning. When not handled carefully, discussions about carbon projects can result in more confusion and division within a community.
