Women Multipurpose Development Society (WMPDS) is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO), functioning under Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act from 11.10.1993. WMPDS has been working with the poor and marginalized people irrespective of caste, creed, ethnicity and linguistic difference for more than 27 years. WMPDS has obtained 80G, 12AA, FCRA Number, PAN Card, and registered with NITI Aayog and working for the needy / poor people in Tiruvannamalai District. Over the years, WMPDS has organized many programmes which includes health, welfare, development, education, skill training, women empowerment and children development activities for tribals, Dalits and marginalized groups. WMPDS is a grass root level NGO, working with various stake holders for the development and welfare of the people.
WMPDS has a track record of providing relief / rehabilitation programmes for all most every year in the context of cyclone, dengue, epidemics, drought, flood, Tsunami, swain flue, malaria, tuberculosis, and other disasters occurred in Tamil Nadu. During I wave of Covid-19, WMPDS provided community feeding, distributed face masks, soaps, sanitizers, etc., through the volunteers and women groups leaders for the migrants internally displaced people and homeless people in Tiruvannamalai district.
India has a second attack of Double mutant Corona virus variant which is called as B.1.617 by WHO. The last year long lock down was damaging the country economically, politically, socially and demographically. The second attack was unexpected and it was turned as a community transmission of Corona virus due to the following reasons.
In India, the vaccination coverage (double doses) was only 3% and in Tamil Nadu, it was 4.7%. In U.S.A., it was 38.29%, U.K. 31.3% and in Brazil, it was 8.4% coverage.
