The Gender and Justice Unit (the Unit) hones in on legal empowerment as one of the most powerful catalysts of gender equality and social justice, both of which are crosscutting and critical to meaningful citizen participation in public life. The Unit was established to use the law as a tool for gender equality and social justice through strategic litigation to promote reforms in law and government policies that are adverse to gender equality and social justice. The Unit focuses on working with other organizations and individuals to advocate for systemic change in public law matters, including issues that affect the disadvantaged and advocating for law reform through legislative proposals and impact litigation.
