Sustainable Development Initiatives (SDI) based in Kalangala district, Uganda is a none profit Community Based Organization (CBO) started  with a major objective of increasing household incomes through strengthening food security, advocating for accessibility, availability and quality of better health services in HIV/ Tuberculosis (T.B); Reproductive health/Family Planning and Child Survival services, legal support and education for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs); Female Sex Workers and advocating for sexual minority rights and Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the fishing communities.

Activities;

  • Mobilisation for the integrated health care and treatment outreaches
  • Assisted Partner Notification (APN)
  • Link clients that need HIV, T.B services to the health facility
  • Mobilize patients for Viral Load testing and ART refills
  • TB contact tracing
  • Link mothers that are due for delivery to the health facility
  • Adherence counselling most especially for patients not suppressing
  • Bring back to care patients that are lost to follow up
  • Health education on antimicrobial resistance and referring patients for Antibiotic Resistance for lab and diagnostics.
  • Behavioural change communication including Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision (VMMC), condom promotion, COVID-19 messaging
  • Demand creation for Gender Based Violence and supporting Sexually Gender Based Violence (SGBV) victims to access Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and mobilising clients for Pre-Exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) services
  • Resource mobilization
  • Accessing legal justice for women, children and People with Dissabilities (PWDs), to acquire land, education, setting-up income generating activities
