Seinoli Trust is a non-profit organisation registered in 2014 under the laws of Lesotho. Its governance is overseen by a board of Trustees. It has 6 permanent staff members; the executive director, finance and administration manager, programme lawyer, liaison officer, communication and information officer and office assistant.
Seinoli works with communities affected by Lesotho highlands Water Project, mining operations and agribusiness. It has more 50 client communities.
Seinoli leverages the rule of law for protection, restoration and sustainable livelihoods of communities affected by large infrastructure development projects in Lesotho. It uses strategic litigation, advocacy and capacity strengthening of communities to protect and promote that rights of communities. currently Seinoli litigates at the national level but it uses litigation as a last resort where advocacy efforts have not been successful.
Issues of focus are compensation and resettlement, women customary land rights, right to information ( free, prior and informed consent), livelihood restoration, legal rights and legal process education, paralegal establishment and training.
