LBH APIK Jakarta was formed by APIK (Indonesian Women’s Association for Justice) in 1995, motivated by a shared concern about the need to provide legal services and assistance to women with an attitude and perspective that is more pro-women. This institution is the first legal aid institution for women in Indonesia. LBH APIK Jakarta is a non-profit institution that aims to create a just and democratic society, as well as creating equal conditions between women and men in all aspects of life, whether political, economic, social or cultural. This goal is to be achieved by realizing a legal system that has a women’s perspective, namely a fair legal system seen from the pattern of power relations in society, especially the relationship between women and men, by continuously making efforts to eliminate gender inequality and injustice in its various forms.
