Health Equity and Policy Initiative (HEAPI) operates in Uganda, focusing on health as a basic human right, especially for vulnerable populations. HEAPI’s mission is to empower communities with awareness of the vital link between health and human rights. Its goal is to improve lives by ensuring access to health and human rights for all.

Programs and Activities:

  1. Strategic Litigation – Addressing health disparities and defending the right to health, with a focus on vulnerable groups, including stateless individuals and victims of forced evictions.
  2. Research – Conducting studies on the right to health, environmental justice, and digital identity challenges impacting stateless individuals and displaced populations.
  3. Community Empowerment – Providing health and human rights information to individuals, communities, and duty bearers.
  4. Access to Justice – Reducing health inequalities through justice mechanisms for stateless individuals, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and those affected by forced evictions.
  5. Collaboration and Partnerships – Engaging with stakeholders to address the root causes of health issues and provide digital identity solutions for stateless persons.

HEAPI envisions a society where health is fully recognized as a basic human right, focusing on those impacted by statelessness, lack of digital identity, and forced evictions.
