We believe the social and economic policies in the era of globalisation threaten the survival and impede the progress of a vast majority of people. Development policies of the past decades in India have resulted in a denial of rights of minorities, landless, small and marginal farmers, Dalits, Adivasis, Indigenous People, workers, women and children. The policies deepen existing inequalities and create new ones resulting in massive economic and social disparities. Conflicts, hate campaigns and ecological disasters continue to force people to flee their homelands. Unequal levels of development force people to move from their homes in search of survival and better development options – even outside national boundaries.
