Civil Society SDGs Campaign/GCAP Zambia is a coalition of civil society organizations (CSOs) working to eradicate poverty in Zambia. The coalition is made up of various groups, including women, youth, persons with disabilities, the elderly, local and traditional leaders, rural communities, indigenous groups, ethnic minorities, and advocates for children’s rights. Its strengths are its grassroots leadership, its ability to mobilize citizens, and its solid foundation of small and mid-sized organizations. The coalition advocates for pro-poor policies related to the implementation of UN Agenda 2030/SDGs, Africa Agenda 2063, good governance, and civic engagement. Its recent successes include campaigns for child registration at health facilities, campaigning for vaccine justice and intellectual property rights, youth unemployment, and debt cancellation. The coalition maintains contact with the grassroots and has a distinct focus on partnerships with key stakeholders, including government and regional movements. It offers evidence-based advocacy and policy alternatives in areas such as Public Finance Management, health, and sustainable development.
