Asylum Access Malaysia (AAM) is a locally registered NGO pushing for a Malaysia in which all refugees can feel safe and rebuild their lives. We are part of a family of organizations seeking to make human rights a reality for refugees globally and adopt a human right approach to refugee response.
Since launching we have been at the forefront of the provision of individualised legal services and community legal empowerment programming to refugees in Malaysia. Our advocacy is focused on systemic change and we work with different stakeholders through coalitions and direct engagement, to advocate for changes to Malaysian law that will restore the safety and dignity of refugees in the country – Ultimately the goal is for a legal framework that is responsive to refugee voices. Some thematic issues we are advocating for include work rights for refugees and ending immigration detention of children.
