Our organisation is based in Zambia and hosted by WWF Zambia Country Office. We work in all the ten provinces of the country. It mission is by fostering sustainable natural resources management.

The Forum was initially registered with Registrar of societies in 2005; but has been registered with the Ministry of Community Development Mother and Child Development since December 2014 in accordance with the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) Act No. 16 of 2009.  The Zambia Community Based Natural Resources Management (CBNRM)  Forum’s work is focused on creating secure livelihoods for communities in Zambia through sustainable utilization of natural resources that include; forestry, fisheries, water, agriculture, land and wildlife.

 

The national CBNRM Forum was created as an output of numerous government programmes that sought to mainstream participation of community-based organizations (CBO’s) sustainable management of natural resources. It is an umbrella organization for Community Based Organizations (CBOs); private sector, public sector organizations and donor community and; Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) with interest in or supportive of CBNRM. As an umbrella organization for CBOs, it strives to influence CBNRM related policy formulation and facilitate effective implementation of CBNRM Programmes and projects that develop sustainable and strategic partnerships between local communities on one hand and, private and public sectors on the other hand through continuous consultations and networking among stakeholders.
