Youth in Action Against Poverty and HIV/AIDS (YAAPHA) is a nonprofit organisation based in Moshi, Tanzania, dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities. Established in 2011, YAAPHA works in five regions: Kilimanjaro, Tabora, Arusha, Kigoma and Dodoma. Our mission is to reduce poverty, promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life for marginalised groups, including women, youth and orphans affected by HIV/AIDS.
YAAPHA implements a diverse range of programs tailored to address critical community needs. These include educational initiatives aimed at improving literacy and life skills, environmental conservation projects to promote climate resilience and entrepreneurship training to foster economic independence. We also provide psychosocial support and legal assistance to survivors of gender based violence and marginalised groups.
Our organisation is committed to creating a society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. Through strategic partnerships with local and international stakeholders, YAAPHA has successfully implemented impactful projects such as civic education campaigns, organic farming training and support for human rights defenders. We leverage a participatory approach, ensuring community ownership and long term sustainability of our interventions.
YAAPHA’s work aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including no poverty, quality education, gender equality, and climate action. By addressing both immediate needs and systemic challenges, we strive to build resilient and self-sufficient communities across Tanzania.
