WAVE is a women’s rights organization that promotes a rights-based approach through its engagements with women to shift power dynamics and pursue opportunities through which they can realize and use their agency for participation, to promote inclusion, non-discrimination, and local ownership, and to demand for justice and accountability.  As a women’s rights and women-led organization, we are committed in pursing gender justice, equality, and non-discrimination. We support women to amplify their voices and seek to empower women to build their agency and enhance their participation in both the public and private sphere. WAVE is expressly committed to promoting an intersectional lens to address gender inequalities, discrimination, exclusion, and accountability. Our niche is our work and closeness to women victims in different communities, particularly outside of urban areas.

We document human rights violations and abuses, facilitate access to humanitarian, psychological, medical, and economic support and continually strive to deepen our engagements and representation of victims and their communities, including through awareness creation, activism and advocacy with the government, and other stakeholders. We have maintained a crucial role in supporting victims to be part of the overall TJ process and have documented significant achievements in this respect. The listening and talking circles which we conduct across the country have been hailed as significant measures to bridge information gaps, facilitate sharing in a safe space and help to raise the profile of women victims whose situations are highly influenced by unequal gender dynamics in patriarchal communities and stigma. Women have increasingly been empowered to come out, speak up and let their voices be heard in different platforms.
