Women Development Association for Self Sustenance WODASS) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-religious and non-political organization, founded in 1985, when 45 women came together in Dass; with the aim of mobilizing pregnant women to take advantage of available ante and post natal health facilities in the community. The group later became an association, with the name Mbula Women Association (MWA), which was chaired by Hajiya Hussaina B. Othman, the wife of the then Emir of Dass.

As the number of members increased, we later changed our name to Dass Women Multipurpose Cooperative Union (DWMCU); got registered with the Bauchi State Government in 1997 and started giving loans to women groups to address the economic hardship of the people. In February 2007 we finally changed to our current name; Women Development Association for Self Sustenance (WODASS) and got registered at the Federal Level with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

WODASS from inception has focused on addressing women, youth and children development issues with a vision to see the people live improved and sustainable lives. WODASS has made modest contributions towards addressing the problems of poverty and non-participation of women in decision making at all levels.
