.Vidyasagar is a Chennai-based non-profit organisation founded in 1985 by Poonam Natarajan, a parent of a child with a disability. For four decades, the organisation has worked towards the holistic development, dignity, and inclusion of persons with disabilities, particularly children and adults with neurological impairments and individuals with high support needs. Vidyasagar’s work is grounded in the belief that disability is part of human diversity and that every individual has the right to participate fully in society.

The organisation provides services across the life span, including early intervention, education, therapy services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and communication support, vocational training and livelihood opportunities, and community-based rehabilitation programmes that work closely with families and communities. Vidyasagar also conducts training programmes for professionals and educators to strengthen disability support systems.

In addition, Vidyasagar works to advance disability rights through advocacy, accessibility initiatives, and legal empowerment. Its Disability Legislation Unit promotes awareness of disability rights and supports access to justice through policy engagement, stakeholder training, and free legal aid services. Based in Chennai, Vidyasagar works with individuals with disabilities, families, professionals, and community stakeholders to promote inclusion and equal participation in society.
