UNIAFRO (Programa de Investigacion y Extension Sobre Afrodescendencia y Estudios Afrodiasporicos) is an academic and action-oriented program based at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (Argentina), working across Latin America and the Afro-diasporic space. Its mission is to promote racial justice and social equity by advancing critical, decolonial, and interdisciplinary research on Afro-descendant communities.

The organization develops activities in three main areas: (1) research and knowledge production on racism, migration, and Afro-diasporic identities; (2) academic training through seminars, workshops, and public dialogues that connect scholars, activists, and community leaders; and (3) extension and community engagement, working directly with Afro-descendant organizations to co-create initiatives, strengthen capacities, and amplify their voices in public policy and international advocacy spaces.

UNIAFRO also fosters South–South cooperation by building regional and transnational networks, encouraging the exchange of experiences and strategies to confront structural inequalities. Its work emphasizes the recognition of historical injustices, the valorization of ancestral knowledge, and the promotion of inclusive and participatory approaches to social transformation.
