Timran is a local NGO registered by the Agency for Civil Society Organizations in 2020.  It emerged as a local non-partisan civil society organization (CSO) dedicated to advancing women’s participation in politics adn public decision making in Ethiopia regardless of their political opinion or political party affiliation.  It was founded by nine Ethiopian citizens who steadfastly united to narrow the gender parity in the country’s politics.  TIMRAN is dedicated to carrying its share in the nation’s efforts to end the hostile political environment that is characterized by political gridlock, marginalization, injustice, violence, and rapidly growing ethinic conflict.

Following the establishment of Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) to foster unity, peace, and reconciliation, about 60 CSOs, established a network called a Coalition for Women’s Voice in the National Dialogue.  TIMRAN serves as Secretariat of the Network. So far,our organization implemented intensive tasks of collecting agendas from women of various backgrounds including housewives, farmers, pastoralists, women with disabilities, low-income groups, minority groups, IDPs etc. provided trainings for facilitators, and is ready to provide capacity building training for women on thought articulation so that they will acquire communication skills to voice out their issues. The tasks require endurance and collaborations with like-minded actors because it takes joint efforts to penetrate patriarchal politico-legal systems.
