The A’ray Justice and Peace Initiative (TAJPI) Tanzania is a legally registered non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organization operating in Tanzania Mainland, with its head office in Karatu District, Arusha Region. Established in 2014 and officially registered in 2019 under the NGOs Act No. 24 of 2002, TAJPI works to advance justice, peace, human dignity, and environmental sustainability among vulnerable and marginalized communities.
TAJPI implements integrated, community-driven programs that address systemic social and environmental challenges. Its core interventions include women’s empowerment and land rights advocacy in rural communities; prevention of gender-based violence, harmful practices such as FGM, and human trafficking; child protection and access to education; and ecological restoration through initiatives such as the Birthday Tree Planting Project.
The organization also supports survivors of trafficking and domestic abuse through rehabilitation, reintegration, and livelihood support, while promoting civic awareness, accountability, and access to justice through the “Mwangaza wa Haki” (Light of Justice) program.
TAJPI applies a participatory, rights-based approach that emphasizes local ownership, capacity building, and sustainability. Its implementation model relies on strong partnerships with local communities, schools, faith institutions, government structures, and global supporters, including volunteers and donors.
A distinctive feature of TAJPI’s work is its cost-effective, high-impact model that leverages volunteerism and in-kind community contributions, enabling the organization to deliver measurable outcomes with limited financial resources while maintaining transparency and accountability.
Through its programs, TAJPI contributes to national development priorities and global frameworks, including human rights, gender equality, and climate action.
