Tai Karate Club (Tai Academy) is a grassroots organization based in Murang’a County, Kenya, dedicated to empowering girls aged 5 to 18 through a holistic approach that blends karate, life skills, academic support, and mentorship. Founded in response to the challenges rural girls face—including school dropouts, teenage pregnancy, early marriage, lack of menstrual hygiene support, and limited mentorship—Tai aims to create safe, supportive, and empowering spaces for girls to thrive.

Karate is at the heart of our program, not only as a form of physical training but also as a powerful tool to build discipline, confidence, focus, and self-respect. Weekly training sessions are complemented by structured mentorship, life skills development, and academic support to help girls stay in school and make informed decisions about their futures.

We also provide menstrual hygiene kits to combat absenteeism and promote dignity. Our regular tournaments and community events build visibility and teamwork while celebrating girls’ achievements. Boys are involved as allies, helping foster a culture of mutual respect and gender equality.
