SULED-Ethiopia is a Board-Led charitable organization registered in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia as a local CSO. A group of land, environmental, human rights and development experts came together to establish SULED-Ethiopia. Their motivation is to extend professional support of knowledge-based development of the country’s land and natural resource sustainably. And thereby, ensuring rights protection, improving sustainable development of land, environment and natural resources in Ethiopia and contributing to the sustainable development of the country. It strategized the power of the law and rights to defend the land and environmental justice, harmonize developments and environmental change with sustainable development goals of the UN and achieve land and environmental justice. Chiefly, it considers the marginalized agrarian and pastoral society and strives for sustainable developments that highly consider women and growing rural youth. Therefore, SULED-Ethiopia aspires to bring in and create forums for various researchers, pursue scientific research and publications, complaint investigations, reporting’s, public interest litigations and government outreach services.

SULED-Ethiopia is established to address the following three core objectives:

  1. Contribute to the development and transfer of evidence-based knowledge on sustainable development of land, environment and natural resources in Ethiopia through scientific research and publications;
  2. Improve the protection of land, environment and natural resources rights in Ethiopia by investigating complaints, producing periodic reports and public interest litigations on land right violations, environmental damages and developments of natural resources; and
  3. Improve the Federal and Regional Governments capacity in land, environment and natural resource administrations through continuous and concerted government outreach services including policy and legal advice, training and consulting works.
