Seed International is a Kenya-based community-based organisation (CBO) on a mission to raise a generation of purpose-driven leaders across Africa one seed at a time. We work at the intersection of leadership development, community organizing, and environmental justice, believing that lasting change begins when ordinary people are equipped to lead, unite, and protect what is theirs.
Our work is built on three pillars.
Our Leadership Pillar carries the SEED Mentorship Programme walking alongside high school and university students, particularly young women, through purpose discovery, mentorship pairing, and character formation. We don’t just build careers; we build people who invest in the next person. Every mentee commits to one day mentoring another. The seed multiplies.
Our Community Organizing Pillar is anchored by the Africa For Africa Initiative, with the Kenyan beaded band as its flagship symbol. Through community paralegal training and grassroots workshops, we equip communities to understand their rights, organise across ethnic lines, and engage civic processes with confidence. The bead is our declaration: one Kenya, one people. In a nation heading into an election cycle, this work is urgent we are training paralegals who will be peacemakers, rights defenders, and civic educators at the community level, partnering with the youth-led Niko Kadi movement to ensure young people are not just voters, but informed rights-holders.
Our Environmental Justice Pillar mobilises young people around climate action through tree-planting campaigns and community-based trainings on land rights and ecological stewardship. We believe planting a tree is a legal act  a community’s declaration that they belong to this land and will protect it.
