Sahyogi is a non-political, non-religious, not-for-profit organization committed to advancing gender equality and social justice in Bihar. For over a decade, Sahyogi has worked at the grassroots to build communities where women, men, adolescents, and youth live with dignity, exercise their rights, and participate in decisions that shape their lives—free from discrimination and violence. With a strong belief in community ownership, Sahyogi promotes sustainable change through strengthened local leadership, collective action, and transformed gender norms.
The organization partners with rural and urban communities, Panchayati Raj Institutions, youth groups, and frontline workers to challenge inequality and cultivate gender-equitable ecosystems. Its approach blends participatory learning, behavior change communication, and creative tools such as Forum Theatre, sports-based leadership, youth mobilization, and community dialogue.
Flagship initiatives like Shashakt Kishori equip adolescent girls with life skills, leadership development, digital awareness, and emotional resilience, supported by Gender Resource Centres, teacher sensitization, and theatre-led community engagement. Through Project RISE, Sahyogi is building adolescent-ready ecosystems that strengthen girls’ education, digital safety, emotional well-being, and career readiness.
With the HERO Project, young men and boys participate in sports, gender discussions, youth centers, and film screenings to challenge stereotypes and promote positive masculinity.
Sahyogi’s AAN initiative has trained over 500 community leaders to address domestic and gender-based violence through counseling, legal support, and weekly Aurat Ki Adalat sessions.
Beyond projects, Sahyogi spearheads statewide campaigns such as OBR, EVAW, Reclaim the Nights, Manoranjan Ka Haq, and Menstrual Hygiene Management drives—mobilizing thousands to challenge violence, reclaim public spaces, and break stigma around menstruation.
