OCTRE Optimizing Community Resources Towards Resilience (OCTRE) is a registered women-led grassroots community-based organization (CBO). Our work is rooted in feminist principles and beliefs that define our interventions, management, movement building, and solidarity activities

Our goal envisions women’s autonomy by pursuing women’s human rights and gender justice that contributes to the enhancement of; gender equality for equitable development, and the application of principles and values of human rights on issues affecting women in Nakuru County.

Our work focuses on the interface between gender justice, community resilience, development, inclusion, and how these interact with existing power structures that oppress, exploit, and exclude women in all their diversity. We uncover, act, advocate, and address, at the community level, issues and their intersection with the rights of women. In this way, our work has continued to increase the visibility of lived realities of women at the grassroots level, and the building of individual and collective power that influences policies and laws, accountability, transforming systems of oppression, transformative success amplification, and representation toward achieving social justice for women and girls.

Our vision: A society free from social injustice for all women and girls

Our Mission: To build grassroots collective women’s power for the achievement of women’s and girls’ rights and the realization of gender equality by dismantling local oppressive systems.
