Legal Aid South Africa is mandated to ensure access to justice and the realisation of the right of a person to have legal representation as envisaged in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. Our services are available nationwide through a footprint of 128 offices.Persons who cannot afford legal services and who pass Legal Aid SA’s Means Test can be helped in specified matters.
Legal Aid SA also provides education and information concerning legal rights and obligations to communities. We are an active partner in building justice systems and safer communities nationally, regionally and internationally, thus supporting access to justice for all

We are also a leader in the provision of legal advice and civil representation, especially protecting and defending the rights of women, children, the elderly, the landless and communities. The organisation funds precedent-setting matters that promote the rights of communities in impact litigation matters.
