Originally founded in as an international Organization in 1978, Global Rights earned its sterling reputation as a human rights organization working in partnership with local activists in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to build grass roots movements that promote and protect the rights of populations marginalized because of gender, ethnicity, race, socio-economic status, or disability. In 2014, the entity devolved into a local organization, having previously operated in Nigeria for more than 15 years.
Over the years, Global Rights has worked to build the capacity of underserved communities in Nigeria – in particular – Northern Nigeria. We provide local NGOs and community-based organizations with targeted human rights training and technical assistance to document, monitor, and report on escalating human rights violations. We introduced a tailored paralegal training and court accompaniment program to facilitate access to justice for poor and marginalized women seeking redress for legal problems.
