1.1 Introduction & Background
Emergency Response and Development Initiative (ERDI) a 501 (C) (3), registered nationally recognised South Sudanese based non-profit Organisation with Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) registration License No. 1297 and TIN: 101-327-043. ERDI is a member of CORE GROUP and Catholic Relief Services facilitated the payment of ERDI membership fee. ERDI collaborated with W.H.O, EU, IOM, WFP (PPE’s). ERDI has MoU with the State Ministry of General Education and Instruction of Central Equatoria State and Ministry of Peacebuilding with many other recommendations of Humanitarian Assistance.
ERDI thematic areas include; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Education, Nutrition, Health/Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods, Non-Food Items (NFIs)/shelter, Protection/PWD’s, Gender Based Violence (GBV), capacity building and Peacebuilding. ERDI implemented WASH both developmental Soft and Hard WASH: 15th October, 2022, ERDI through the Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation the Global Hand Washing Day under the theme “Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene”. In late 2021 ERDI implemented a WASH project on “Restoring the Self-Esteem of Menstruating Girls” through MHM Training & Distribution of Dignity Kits in Two (2) Primary Schools-Juba County-CES; training on MHM & Dignity Kits distribution at MAT Secondary School in 2020; UNMISS- REFERENCE TO HA CASE NO 7- Provisioning of Spares for Repair of Boreholes in Rokon Payam of Juba County where ERDI assessed the non-functional boreholes and made awesome repairs to the safe accessibility of drinking water in Rokon Payam in 2021.
ERDI also successfully implemented Health programmes through Personal Protective Equipments (PPE’s) Distribution at Juba Teaching Hospital in 2021, Juba Military Referral Hospital in 2021, Morobo Specialized Hospital in 2021, Victorious Medical Centre in 2020 provided by WHO through IOM WASH Core Pipeline and WFP (Logistics Cluster).
