DLCI is a knowledge management and resource advocacy organization working in pastoralists Kenya areas with the aim of improving policy and practice in the Horn of Africa.
DLCI started as a Regional Learning and Advocacy Programme to support collaborative learning, civic education and documentation on drylands development and advocacy. Our current work is focusing on the capacity-building support of community institutions & County governments in Kenya. We disseminate the learning and findings from our research to other countries with substantial drylands in the Horn of Africa.
DLCI provides regularly convene learning session, conduct brief research studies to generate knowledge, provide facilitation, advocacy, and communications services to non-state actors and stakeholders and partners with willing partners and organizations similar values and objectives. We empower communities on land rights and advocate for pastoralist women and girls rights. We work with independent commissions to reduce inter-community conflicts and build cohesion and support to pastoralist parliamentary group to deliver on its constitutional mandate of representation, legislation and to oversight, the executive arm of governments at both national and County levels.
