CEMSOJ is an apolitical, informal and not for profit network of human rights and development activists. It works for the socio-economic empowerment and the promotion of social justice and human rights of marginalized groups of Nepal, including indigenous peoples, Madhesis, Dalits, persons with disabilities, rural people and urban poor – with particular focus on women, children and youth of those groups, towards a just and peaceful society.
The central strategy of CEMSOJ is to assist the marginalized communities for their socio-economic empowerment at community levels and human rights advocacy at all levels – to be undertaken concurrently.
CEMSOJ has been implementing its activities under six programmes or initiatives, namely 1) Campaign for Just Nepal, 2) Climate Justice Initiative, 3) Development Justice Initiative 4) Human Rights Advocacy, 5) Post-Earthquake Recovery Initiative, and 6) Youth Dialogue on Federalism. Off those, it has ongoing capacity building, research, advocacy and lobbying as well as community support works under its Climate Justice Initiative, Development Justice Initiative and Human Rights Advocacy programmes.
