Monrovia, Liberia
Joined January 2026

CHAPTER III is a Liberia based litigation-focused public interest institution solely committed to aggressively defending and advancing fundamental rights through litigation.

Presence in: Liberia
Focus: Community / Customary Land Rights, Education, Environmental Justice, Governance, Accountability & Transparency, Health, Legal Aid & Public Interest Law, Women's Rights

Chapter III is rooted in the belief that where public policy has failed, the power of the courts can bear upon duty bearers to hold them accountable to serving the people and ensuring that peoples’ rights are protected. Drawing motivation from Chapter III of the Constitution of Liberia, our courtroom advocacy is intensive, daring, and progressive. We take on strategic precedent-setting cases to challenge injustice, expand liberties, and affirm that no one is above the law. Not even governments!

We aim to achieve our mission through three program areas: Constitutional Litigation & Civil Liberties; Economic, Social & Cultural Rights Litigation; and Governance & Public Accountability Litigation.
