The Centre for Devolved Governance in Africa is involved in research, capacity building, and development programs. The Centre works with Governments, Academic institutions, Communities to address capacity gaps and bad governance. It primarily focuses on a devolved system of governance to ensure they respond to citizens’ needs resulting in improved service delivery.
The centre provides credible policy advice to County and National governments, Institutions, and Organized groups for objective decision-making. We propose solutions to governance issues after extensive research. Where there is a need for critical skills, the Centre builds capacity through training or secondment of specialists in the desired area.
CEDEGA is a resource centre on Governance and carries out consultancy services on different policy issues and development programs. We work on the assumption that decentralization or the transfer of political, fiscal, and administrative powers from the central Government to the lowest levels of the community is more likely to improve service delivery to citizens. We advocate for community development through consensus arising from consultation, inclusivity, broad engagement, and public participation with all stakeholders to create community appreciation and ownership.
The Centre runs programs targeting food security, health & improved livelihoods including the build-up of small and medium enterprises to cushion the most vulnerable members of communities. Our Development programs give priority to poor and marginalized members of society. These include women, youth, orphans, disabled, HIV positive, single and teenage parents. We further work with the communities to conserve the environment through Afforestation programs and pollution reduction by use eco-friendly produced s
