AMARRE-Bénin is a grassroots organization working in coastal and rural communities of Benin, where environmental degradation, climate change, and insecure land and resource rights threaten livelihoods and ecosystems.
The organization is committed to advancing environmental justice and strengthening the resilience of vulnerable populations, particularly women and natural resource-dependent communities. Its work focuses on securing legitimate land and resource rights, promoting sustainable natural resource management, and protecting critical ecosystems, including coastal and marine areas.
AMARRE-Bénin adopts a participatory and community-centered approach, combining capacity building, community mobilization, and inclusive governance mechanisms to empower local actors. It also engages in policy advocacy to influence decision-making processes and ensure that community voices are recognized and integrated into local and national policies.
Through partnerships with civil society organizations, networks, and institutional actors, AMARRE-Bénin contributes to the design and implementation of impactful programs that link environmental sustainability, social equity, and community development.
