The Association for Peace and Human Rights “APDH” is a non-governmental organization born from a Human Rights School Club initiated in 1994 by young pupils of Don Bosco High School and has evolved into an organization with formally structures as a vision, a mission and objectives well-specified.
APDH was approved by Ministerial Order No. 530/689 of August 13th, 1998, its head quaters is in Ngozi and has branches in the provinces of Ngozi, Kirundo, Muyinga (north of the country), Gitega (center of country) and Bujumbura (the capital city). It also has 132 members and 20 staff members.
The promotion and defense of human rights as enshrined in the International charter of Human Rights, the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the Constitution of Burundi and other relevant national and international instruments;
Act against any infringement of the rights of individuals and communities in general, and those of the vulnerable and / or marginalized groups in particular; Sensitization communities in general and youth in particular for peaceful conflict resolution and national reconciliation.
The target group of APDH is the community in general , women, youth and local administrative authorities in particular.
