AMMAR was created as a response to the constant persecution and violence of the police forces. Together we discovered that the organization is the force and the engine needed to achieve the objectives that benefit sex workers and society in general.
           We started to meet at the end of 1994. In 1995 we joined the Central de Trabajadores Argentinos (CTA), which made it possible for us to abandon some marginalization, by recognizing ourselves as workers in front of other sindicalized workers.
           Since 1997, we have integrated the Network of Sex Workers of Latin America and the Caribbean (RedTraSex), which aims to support and strengthen organizations of women sex workers in the defense and promotion of their human rights. The Network is composed of 15 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.

         In 2016 we led to the creation of the organism FUERTSA (Frente de Unidad Emancipatorio por el Reconocimiento de los Derechos Sexuales en Argentina), which is constituted by sex worker-allies and further opens up for a norm change in society.
          Our history as organized sex workers shows us that we can not only denounce, but also that we can be ourselves, fight to transform the reality of abuse, exploitation and discrimination that we face. We learned and developed the management capacity necessary for institutional growth and we strengthened ourselves in the constant search to make our rights effective and accessible.
