A documentary about a prisoner paralegal program run by Kenyan Global Legal Empowerment Network member Kituo cha Sheria has been named overall winner in the radio category in the prestigious One World Media awards in London. Catherine Fellows of the BBC made Law Behind Bars in 2013 and followed the progress of prisoner-paralegals trained by Kituo to take on and win their own appeals. Since the paralegal program began over 3,000 inmates have been able to prove their innocence at appeal.
