Izwi Domestic Workers Alliance supports domestic workers in Johannesburg by:

  • providing legal advice and case support for labour rights issues;
  • building a network of workers through neighbourhood groups, which offer activities and trainings; and
  • using media to share the stories and experiences of domestic workers in SA.

Izwi (meaning “voice”) was founded by a group of women, with the support of Dahlak Exchange. Dahlak is a public interest media organisation that uses multimedia platforms to engage the voices of marginalised populations in social dialogue. Dahlak has used film to engage on issues of land reform, housing, and labour rights in SA.
